Here is a rare Revenge of the Jedi rolled theatrical one sheet teaser
movie poster from 1982 in beautiful Near Mint+ condition! It measures
27 in. by 41 in. It was purchased through the Star Wars Fan Club in
March 1983, just after the title of the movie was changed to Return of
the Jedi. (I am the original owner.) All posters printed by National
Screen Service were recalled, and the existing copies went to the S.W.
Fan Club. They made the remaining copies available to members only, and
they sold out in three days!
These
are the same theatrical posters, printed and distributed by National
Screen Service, that movie exhibitors received. The one difference
being they were never folded, but were rolled for mailing. So, they are
generally sharper and in better condition than the folded version!
This one is a shiny, gorgeous example! It is Near Mint+ with bright
white on the border and amazing bold, dark black and red on the main
graphic. There are a few bits of edge wear/indentations at the bottom
right. They are extremely minor, and might not be mentioned by some
dealers! Many would give this a "Mint" grade, but as a long-time
collector myself, I am a tough grader. A truly "Mint" poster from this
era is almost an impossiblity. The 1982 handling of movie posters by
National Screen Service, and then The S.W. Fan Club shippers, almost
always added a small crease or some other miniscule blemish, BEFORE it
reached collectors' hands. Thus, the NM+ grading. ("Mint" means
perfect, never handled, right off the printing press.) This gorgeous
poster is, never-the-less, one of the finest original Revenge Teasers
you will ever see!
This is 100% Original and Not A Reprint! The
bottom right of the poster states: "The Revenge of the Jedi teaser one
sheet." (Please see close-up pics.) The 20th Century Fox emblem above
it is clear and sharp, without the tell-tale "cloud" the counterfeits
show. This is the second version of the poster, which has a "Coming May
25, 1983 to Your Galaxy" at the bottom. This is a rare, beautiful
recalled Star Wars collectible in absolutely amazing condition!
